Title: New Product Release
Post by Andrew on Mar 25th, 2008, 12:25am
Hello!

We've released new solution USB virtualization "USB for Remote Desktop". The product is extremely useful in Terminal Server environment. From now, you can use your local USB devices in remote Windows session.

Thanks!

What are the advantages of using USB for RDP vs yor other USB for network... I can do the same things, almost the same way in both??

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for reasonable question.
Yes, you can do the same using any of both solutions.

But USB over Network works using direct TCP connection from virtual side to physical side. You can face an issue if virtual side is behind firewall.

USB for Remote Desktop uses RDP virtual channels for data transfer. It works transparently. You do not need to do anything to connect USB devices into remote session. Just login on remote server, and all USB devices automatically appear on the remote computer.

Thanks!

Thank u. I see your point of "much simpler".... In addition, is my following 2 statements are true:
1. Since USB for Remote Desktop uses RDP channels, is it correct to day it will eliminate the issue of one RDP user of connecting to another users devices by "mistake"

2. Using USB for networks, users (on terminal sevres) need to pay attention and NOT connect to some one elses devices if they need NOT to.

By the way, we have been testing your USB For networks and USB for RDP to use with our Database Health Care (registration and billing) and it looks very promissing. It seems that USB for nework is much more stable than USB for RDP, but i am not quit  there yet to confirm one way or another.....
Thanks again

Hi,

Thanks for the note. As to USB for Remote Desktop stability, it would be great if you share any issues you faced with.
Currently we don't know any issues related to Remote Desktop session.

Thanks!

With Remote desktop stability, that i mentioned earlier, was that on the workstation (where the USB device exists) i noticed many times during my testing, for reasons I cannot yet determine, that the sharing program "locks" up and becomes "Not responding".... Please note when it does, i was connecting / disconnecting so many times that i can NOT duplicate in a scientific way to report to you at this time.

Thanks
